Embed the Voting Information Project Tools Today

Just in time for Election Day 2012, the Voting Information Project (VIP) is proud to announce the availability of our polling place locator tools—Microsoft’s Polling Place Locator and Google’s Voter Information Tool.

These open-source polling place lookup tools integrate Bing and Google Maps with VIP data feeds to help voters quickly find their polling places and other voting information by simply entering their home address.  Our new tool is an extension of the Find My Polling Place gadget which, in 2010, was embedded on over 320 websites.  These included a wide range of major news outlets, political campaigns, official state election websites and non-profits.  Analytics reported that the gadget was viewed over 12 million times in the days leading up to Election Day 2010.

Using official election data, Bing and Google Maps, the tools enable voters to access state-specific voter registration deadlines and view up-to-date ballot information as well as contact details for state or local election officials.  Click for instructions on how to install thePolling Place Locator and the Voter Information Tool on your site. It only takes approximately 90 seconds to embed so get the tool today and make it easier for eligible voters to get out and vote.
